San Antonio Police Arrest Suspect In North Side Liquor Store Burglary0
On September 28, 2017, it was announced that San Antonio police had arrested a suspect in a burglary of a liquor store on the city’s North Side. 39-year-old Matthew Gonzales was taken into custody on Wednesday.
The San Antonio Police Department was dispatched to Twin Liquors in the 21000 block of U.S. Highway 281 North on September 14. Surveillance video of the incident showed a suspect skillfully removing a pane of glass and crawling inside of the business. Ultimately, the suspect walked away with roughly $2,300 worth of liquor.
The arrest warrant affidavit claims that a detective assigned to the case found similarities between it and a few other cases he investigated in 2015. The suspect in those cases was sent to prison. The detective knew that the suspect, Matthew Gonzales, had since been released.
The detective tracked down body cam video from the day of the incident and discovered that Gonzales had been confronted by officers. Coincidentally, he was wearing clothing similar to the suspect in the surveillance video. Matthew Gonzales was eventually tracked down and arrested on a charge of burglary.
At this point in prime, Gonzales is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
