Possible Missouri Rapist Wanted To Have Beer Before Victim Called Police0
On October 7, 2017, a Missouri man was arrested for kidnapping and rape. 45-year-old Russell Burd is accused of forcing his way into a woman’s apartment, before raping her in front of her child. Independence police confirm that the victim claims that Burd is her upstairs neighbor.
He knocked on the victim’s door around 4 AM saying he needed to speak with her. The victim admitted that Burd appeared to be upset and intoxicated. At the time of the incident, the victim was at home with her three-year-old son.
Once the door was open, Burd allegedly pulled three pairs of handcuffs and several pieces of clothing from behind his back. The female victim struck and pushed the suspect, but he forced his way inside anyway. The scuffle also stirred the victim’s child causing him to awake.
According to the victim, Burd fell on top of her and put the cuffs around her wrist. He is accused of telling her to “pretend to enjoy this or I will kill you in front of your son.” After the assault had concluded, Burd allegedly asked the woman to give him a little time before notifying the authorities.
He supposedly said to give him “a little time before you contact the cops so I can down a couple beers before I go to jail.” Burd also requested the victim to tell the police to take care of his mother’s ashes.
It didn’t take long before Russell Burd was apprehended. The defendant was picked up by police a short time later. He has now been charged with first-degree sexual abuse, first-degree rape, second-degree burglary and third-degree kidnapping. During Burd’s arrest, he was combative and argumentative with police officers and jail staff.
Burd is behind bars on a $100,000 bond. At this point in time, the defendant is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
