Pathologist Contracted By Marion County, Indiana Corner’s Office Sentenced For Drunk Driving0
In September of this year, a Morgan County pathologist was arrested for driving while intoxicated. The man was contracted by the Marion County Coroner’s Office. 75-year-old Elmo Griggs pled guilty on October the 10th. He has now been sentenced to a single year of probation. Griggs will also have his driving privileges suspended for 90 days.
At the time of his arrest, Griggs was carrying several totes, which contained human tissue samples. No additional charges were filed in relation to those items. Later, the Prosecutor confirmed that the samples were properly stored and handled. Steve Sonnega insisted that there was no biohazard risk of any kind.
It was also revealed that Griggs was not providing any service for the coroner’s office at the time of the incident. Griggs has worked as a pathologist in Indiana for more than a decade. At the time of his arrest, officers also discovered a vodka bottle in Griggs’ truck. Again, Elmo Griggs has been sentenced to one year of probation.
