Kalamazoo Liquor Store Owner Robbed At Gunpoint And Assaulted By Assailant0
Kalamazoo police were dispatched to 2000 block of East Cork Street to investigate an armed robbery Saturday night. At the scene, the responding officers located a man who said he was working in the store, when three masked men entered and robbed him at gunpoint, according to the report.
Approximately 10 p.m., police responded to the Sunny Mart at 2020 East Cork Street to investigate an armed robbery and assault. The clerk told police that three suspects rushed into the store with guns pointed at him, shouting, “get down.”
One of the suspects wearing a bandana went behind the counter, where the storeowner was working and demanded the cash register to be opened. At first the owner refused, but a gun pointed to his temple made him change his mind.
Officers obtained the store’s surveillance video, which showed the suspects charging the clerk and knocking him to the floor. While on the floor, one of the suspects pointed a gun to his head.
The suspects grabbed an unspecified amount of money and fled the area. A K-9 unit dispatched to the scene tracked the scent into a nearby neighborhood, where it went cold.
One of the suspects was described as a black male between 5-foot 8-inches and 6-feet in height. The other two suspects were described as white or light-skinned males.
