Intoxicated Dorchester County Man Comes Within Inches Of Hitting Maryland State Trooper0
Approximately 3:50 a.m. Tuesday morning, a Maryland State Trooper was at the intersection of Railroad Avenue and Route 307 in Hurlock, when a red vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign, coming within inches of colliding with the cruiser.
The trooper pursued the red Ford passenger vehicle as it sped away. The vehicle finally came to a stop when it struck a power pole, causing a power outage. Medics were dispatched to the scene to treat the driver, but he refused.
The preliminary investigation revealed that 45-year-old Joe Louis Ancrum of Hurlock was under the influence of alcohol and operating a vehicle without a license.
Ancrum was arrested and charged with driving on a revoked license, driving without a license and driving under the influence of alcohol. Troopers transported Ancrum to the Maryland State Police Easton Barrack Dorchester County Detachment.
