Grandmother Attends School’s Grandparents Day Drunk And Goes To Jail0
Parents can be incredibly embarrassing. Sometimes, grandparents are even worse. This week, police arrested a 56-year-old grandmother after she checked her granddaughter out of school while intoxicated. Tammy Pillow of Paragould, Arkansas was arrested at the Woodrow Wilson Elementary School on Monday.
The defendant was at the school during Grandparents Day. The authorities were alerted by the school nurse at 2 PM after she became concerned that Pillow might be drunk. When the officer arrived and spoke with Pillow, he noticed a strong smell of alcohol.
Pillow was asked to step outside of her vehicle, while her granddaughter was escorted back into the school by the nurse. At this time, the officer noted that Pillow was stumbling and her speech was slurred.
Pillow told the office that she “took a hydro for some pain in her jaw and washed her mouth out with Tequila because she was out of mouthwash.” That excuse didn’t fly with Officer Kenny Hall. Pillow was taken to jail and charged with public intoxication and endangering the welfare of a minor.
She is currently awaiting a bond hearing. The Arkansas Child Abuse Hotline was also contacted and a report was made. Grandparents just don’t understand.
