Golden, Colorado Drunk Driver Dies After Trooper Involved Shooting


A suspected drunk driver has been shot and killed after an encounter with the Colorado State Patrol. The incident took place over Friday night on Interstate 70 near Colorado Highway 58. Officers rushed to the scene after receiving numerous reports involving the suspect’s truck.

Patrol officers caught up with the truck and it took off. The trooper followed in suit. Eventually, the truck lost control and veered off of the road. At that point, the trooper claims they saw a firearm and shooting followed. The driver of the truck was struck and died at the scene.

The agency wasn’t able to provide further details regarding the incident or who fired when. The shooting will now be investigated by members of the law enforcement community from Jefferson County as well as the district attorney’s office.
