Florida Man Facing Second-Degree Murder Charge After Fight Over Beer0
A terrible incident occurred on October 20 at a Popeye’s restaurant in Florida. A Florida man is now facing second-degree murder charges in relation to the incident, while a 55-year-old man has passed away. The incident took place in the parking lot of a Florida Popeye’s.
It is alleged that 34-year-old James R. Allen got into an argument with 55-year-old John Roughton. It is believed that the two men were arguing over a beer. Eventually, Allen punched Roughton causing him to fall flat on his back. During the fall, Roughton slammed his head onto the pavement.
This resulted in a large, deep cut to the back of his head. Roughton underwent surgery, but he ultimately passed away Tuesday after his family decided to remove him from life support. Both men were listed as living at a nearby homeless assistance center.
Initially, Allen was charged with aggravated battery. Now, his charge has been upgraded. He remains in jail.
