Drunk 64-Year-Old Man In Trouble For Assaulting Woman


This week, it was announced that a 64-year-old man from Wallingford, Connecticut had been charged with striking an elderly woman in the face. John Carney of 76 South Branford Road was ultimately charged with third-degree assault on an elderly person, second-degree breach of peace and interfering with police. The incident took place on Saturday around 7 PM.

At this time, police responded to 76 South Branford Road after receiving a report of an assault. Responding officers spoke with a woman, who claimed that Carney lives in a guest area of the house. She told police she was watching television when Carney entered the room and struck her in the face. Carney was allegedly drunk at the time of the incident.

The victim went outside and hid in the bushes, until police arrived at the scene. According to the police report, responding officers noticed a large purple lump under the victim’s left eye. Carney, who was visibly intoxicated, resisted officers when they attempted to detain him. The judge has entered a protective order against Carney prohibiting him from contacting the woman. Bond was set at $5,000.
