Construction Worker In Critical Condition After Being Struck By Suspected Drunk Driver In New York0
A construction worker sustained serious injuries after being hit by a vehicle driven by an alleged intoxicated driver. After the vehicle struck the worker, it swerved out of control and came to a rest in a ditch, the New York Post reports.
Approximately 12:40 a.m., 28-year-old Keith Hayes was traveling northbound on Hylan Boulevard in a Nissan Altima, when for unknown reasons he veered into a construction zone, slamming into a 37-year-old construction worker.
The Nissan Altima came to a stop, when it “flipped into a trench in the street.”
Hayes was transported to Staten Island University North for treatment of bilateral leg fractures. He is listed in critical but stable condition.
Hayes’ blood alcohol content was 0.163, almost twice the legal limit for driving. He has been charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and vehicular assault.
