Cedar Rapids, Iowa Woman Stabs Man During Drunken Argument0
On Thursday, a Cedar Rapids woman was arrested after stabbing a man in the arm during an argument. The incident occurred while the couple were cruising down the road. Police say that 48-year-old Jody S. Kubik was intoxicated at the time of the alleged stabbing.
The defendant was supposedly returning to Cedar Rapids after a concert in Iowa City around 11 PM on Thursday. An argument relating to the victim supposedly being touched by a third-party broke out sometime during the commute. The police complaint suggests that a highly intoxicated Kubik stabbed the man twice in the arm.
Law enforcement claim Kubik made “pleas of innocence and incriminating statements” during an interview with offices. She claimed she had a knife, but was unware that it was in her hand. She also claimed to have thrown the knife out of the car and committed the stabbing in self-defense.
Nevertheless, Kubik was arrested and booked into the Johnson County Jail. As of Friday morning, she remains behind bars. The suspect has now been charged with willful injury causing bodily injury and domestic abuse assault with a weapon.
